At the end of 185 km of this leg part of Limoux, Simon Yates, already winner of the 12th stage Thursday between Toulouse and Bagneres-de-Bigorre, was ahead of thirty seconds the Frenchman Thibaut Pinot , second, and the Spaniard Mikel Landa, third.
Thibaut Pinot dominated the final climb of the stage while Julian Alaphilippe largely weakened but saved his yellow jersey. The outgoing winner, Welshman Geraint Thomas, dropped the ballast for the second time in two days. Like the Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk, he gave up fifty seconds to Pinot.
