Tour France: Simon Yates wins the 15th stage at the top of the Prat d’Albis

Britain’s Simon Yates won his second leg on Sunday at the 2019 edition of the Tour de France, at the top of the Prat d’Albis in Ariège. Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe keeps the yellow jersey.

Sunday, July 21, the British Simon Yates won his second stage on the Tour de France 2019 at the top of the Prat d’Albis (Ariège). Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe keeps the yellow jersey.

At the end of 185 km of this leg part of Limoux, Simon Yates, already winner of the 12th stage Thursday between Toulouse and Bagneres-de-Bigorre, was ahead of thirty seconds the Frenchman Thibaut Pinot , second, and the Spaniard Mikel Landa, third.

Thibaut Pinot dominated the final climb of the stage while Julian Alaphilippe largely weakened but saved his yellow jersey. The outgoing winner, Welshman Geraint Thomas, dropped the ballast for the second time in two days. Like the Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk, he gave up fifty seconds to Pinot.

In the overall standings, Pinot moved up from sixth to fourth place, only 3 seconds behind Kruijswijk and 15 seconds behind Thomas, still second. Alaphilippe, meanwhile, is only 1 min 35 seconds ahead of his dolphin.
